SEND

At Amotherby Community Primary School, we are proud of our inclusive ethos and our commitment to supporting every child to thrive. Our Headteacher, Mrs Wade, works closely with our Assistant Headteacher and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENCo), Kim Cooper, alongside a dedicated team of experienced teachers and skilled support staff. Together, we work in close partnership to ensure that all children feel valued, supported and able to reach their full potential.

We believe that children’s needs should be identified and supported as early as possible. Our staff use a range of carefully planned systems to help identify any areas where a child may benefit from additional support. Class teachers work closely with Kim Cooper, our SENCo, to ensure that the right provision is put in place for each child. Where appropriate, this may also involve working with external professionals, and we have strong links with the North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) SEND Hub.

We are committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive environment and a broad, balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all learners. We value open communication with parents and carers and see you as key partners in your child’s education. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s learning or development, please do not hesitate to contact our SENCo, Kim Cooper, via admin@amotherby.n-yorks.sch.uk to arrange a meeting. We are always happy to listen and support.
