Religious Education

At Amotherby Community Primary School, Religious Education plays a fundamental role in helping pupils understand and respect the diverse world in which they live. Through high-quality RE, we encourage curiosity, empathy and open-mindedness, supporting pupils to develop a strong sense of identity while learning to value and respect the beliefs, cultures and traditions of others.

Our RE curriculum actively promotes British Values, including mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs, individual liberty, democracy and the rule of law. Pupils are given opportunities to explore a wide range of religious and non-religious worldviews, to ask thoughtful questions, and to reflect on what matters most in their own lives and in society.

We use the NATRE (National Association of Teachers of Religious Education) scheme as a starting point for our planning and delivery. This ensures our curriculum is well-sequenced, knowledge-rich and inclusive, while allowing teachers the flexibility to tailor learning to our pupils and local context. Lessons are carefully designed to build understanding progressively from EYFS through to Year 6.

Through RE at Amotherby, we aim to prepare our pupils for life in Modern Britain by equipping them with the knowledge, understanding and attitudes they need to thrive in a diverse society, contribute positively to their community, and engage respectfully with people from all backgrounds.
