Artist Visit - March 2026
Class 2 recently enjoyed a fantastic visit from our artist in residence, Kane Cunningham, who spent time working with the children on a large-scale mixed media art project. The work was inspired by our current science learning about plants and links nicely with our upcoming geography topic on coasts.
During the session, the children explored different sea plants and underwater life, using a variety of materials and techniques to create a vibrant and imaginative piece of artwork together. They showed great creativity and enthusiasm as they experimented with colour, texture and shape to represent the underwater world.
The finished artwork now looks very impressive displayed in the Class 2 classroom and is a wonderful reflection of the children’s ideas and teamwork.
A big thank you to Kane for leading such an engaging session, and well done to all the children for their creativity and effort.
Art
In Art, our students have been exploring colour mixing. Inspired by Paul klee, they experimented with creating different skin tones by blending primary colours and white.
They drew faces in Klee's style and brought them to life with paint, showcasing their creativity and imagination.
Malton Sports Centre
This term, Year 2 took part in exciting sessions with Malton Sports Centre at school, practising a range of ball skills including baseball, rounders, cricket, and tennis. They also visited the centre for a fun-filled multi-skills afternoon.

SPORTS DAY!
Artist in Residence - Kane Cunningham
We were delighted to welcome our Artist in Residence, Kane Cunningham, who worked with the children to create wonderful artwork inspired by the style of L.S. Lowry. The students explored perspective, colour and composition through sketching and painting.
In art, we have been learning about line and tone. We used our skills to create final pieces inspired by fruit, showing our progress as young artists!

Year 2 have explored lots of different types of writing. We have written adventure stories, tried our hand at poetry, wrote instructions and learned how to write letters. We also researched interesting facts to create our own non-fiction reports.

In May 2025 we created a new reading area!
